Objectives
1. Wajood’s primary focus is to work for underprivileged and marginalized communities in Pakistan, with a special emphasis on the transgender community. The organization will run major programs to: (i) provide healthcare for the transgender community, (ii) offer basic education and avenues for economic empowerment, including mentoring and guidance for employment, and (iii) provide legal aid to combat violence and harassment. Additional objectives include (iv) enhancing visibility and acceptance and (v) using social media and other related tools to sensitize the general public and promote integration and acceptance.
2. Through privately established community centers, underprivileged individuals will have access to key facilities, including healthcare, education, and livelihood opportunities. Free legal aid will also be provided. The success of such projects can be measured through enrolment, constant guidance, and monitoring, ensuring the empowerment of impoverished communities.
3. The organization aims to advance the education, understanding, and sensitivity of the general public regarding issues such as HIV transmission, sexually transmitted infections, their treatment, and consequences for beneficiaries and their partners. It seeks to foster the development of non-judgmental, accepting attitudes toward those affected by these conditions, particularly towards the transgender community.
4. In furtherance of its objectives, the Executive Council shall have the authority to engage in advocacy and policy development to create enabling environments. However, it is essential that the broad membership is satisfied that proposed activities align with the charitable purpose, are justified by the organization’s resources, and do not dominate the organization’s means of fulfilling its objectives.
